hardware

Hardware is the sum of mechanical and electronic parts of a computer. Hardware provides the following functions:

1. Connect the computer to a power source using an electrical chord.

2. Memory storage parts such as a hard disk or RAM (Random Access Memory)

3. Mother Board or a printed circuit board (PCB) which is the brain behind the computer.

The hardware of a computer is housed in a cabinet to hold all the internal electronic and electrical parts such as a printed circuit board (PCB), memory storage devices such as a hard disk or RAM chips and cables.

External hardware such as a keyboard, a mouse or a webcam.

The computer is an electronic machine that combines the power of a typewriter and a mathematical calculator. More than writing long text and crunching numbers, it can perform tasks that normally requires you to leave your desk, such as sending mail. A computer can perform the following basic tasks:

1. Write a document (letter, article or a book)

2. Play games

3. Run a program (a notepad or a calculator)

4. Search for a previously stored document?

5. Browse the files and folders created using file explorer.

A computer comes in different sizes and shapes. The most common type is the desktop computer, often called the PC, an abbreviation for a Personal Computer. A laptop is also a computer, which is lightweight and can run on battery power. A mobile phones called a smartphone is also capable of running all of the above tasks and and so it is also known as a hand-held computer.

A computer is made up of hardware and software.
